ICE SHOW REQUIREMENTS

LARGE GROUP

Must be a SC of Amherst home club member

Must register for one day of ice per week during the winter season (Basic Skills program does qualifies)

Costume will be designed and provided by the club at the skater’s expense.

SHOW GROUP

Must be a SC of Amherst home club member

Must register for either one freestyle session throughout the skating year (fall, winter, and spring)
OR
Two sessions during the winter season (one may be the Basic Skills Program)

Costume will be designed and provided by the club at the skater’s expense

TRIO'S/INTERMEDIATE GROUP

Must be a SC of Amherst home club member
Trio Skaters must pass the scheduled tryout. The moves included in the tryout are as follows:

  • Forward and backward crossovers (both ways)

  • Spiral

  • Lunge

  • Waltz Jump

  • Toe Loop Jump

  • Salchow Jump

  • Two-foot spin 

  • The skater will also be asked to show their ability to do a one-foot spin


Must register for two days of ice per week throughout the skating year (fall, winter and spring) 

  
Please Note: 
The Basic Skills program, moves in the field, dance, and power stroking sessions do not count toward meeting this requirement.
Once qualified, skaters must maintain the ice requirement in order to maintain their eligibility for a trio or the Intermediate Group.
Skaters’ costumes and music are the responsibility of the skater but need approval by the costume committee.


SOLOISTS/ADVANCED GROUP

Must be a SC of Amherst home club member


Must register for a minimum of two days of ice with a minimum of three freestyle sessions per week throughout the skating year (fall, winter, and spring)

Please Note: The Basic Skills program, moves in the field, dance, and power stroking sessions do not count toward meeting this requirement

Skaters’ costumes and music are the responsibility of the skater but need approval by the costume committee.

Skaters (regardless of age) need a total of 85 points to qualify for a solo and/or the advanced group. 
Points earned through testing, competing, or a combination of both must be earned by August 31 to qualify.

Once qualified, skaters must maintain the ice requirement in order to maintain their eligibility for a solo or the advanced group.

Please Note:  The above requirements for Large Group, Show Group, Trios/Intermediate Group, and Soloists/Advanced
Group also apply to adult skaters.

U.S. FIGURE SKATING TESTING POINTS

Points are CUMULATIVE and DO carry over for one additional competition season.
